Our region extends from the Inverness county boundary at the north to the village of Dunkeld at the south with the rivers Tay, Tummel and Garry forming our central spine. The villages of Blair Atholl, Killiecrankie, Pitlochry and Ballinluig make up our main communities.
The land has traditionally been managed for livestock farming and forestry although more recently tourism has played an increasingly important part in the local economy.
The topography is mountainous, glacial in its origins, rising to over 3000 ft in the northerly hills down to under 100 ft along the foot of the Tay at Dunkeld.
Wildlife is in abundance with most hill or woodland walks providing sightings of deer, hawks, grouse, salmon and hare. In some parts, a careful eye will also glimpse the majestic golden eagle hunting the corries, the ellusive otter playing in a quiet pool and the capercaillie guarding its territory.
